West Bengal’s veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has targeted Mallikarjun Kharge. While talking to news agency ANI, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that from the day Mallikarjun Kharge became the party president, according to the party constitution, all other posts in the party in the country have become temporary. Even my post has become temporary.

Adhir Ranjan targeted Kharge

Adhir Ranjan said that when the Lok Sabha elections were going on, Mallikarjun Kharge had said on television that if necessary, I would be kept out. While I had expressed my opinion in front of the party leaders during the elections, but I was saddened by such a statement by Kharge. You must have seen that the election results in West Bengal were also not good for the Congress. He said that even though I was the temporary party president, after the defeat in the state, it was my responsibility to hold myself accountable for this defeat. After which I told Kharge ji that if possible, you can give my place to someone else.

I came to know in the meeting that I am now the former president

Adhir Ranjan further said that meanwhile AICC informed me to call a meeting of Congress leaders of West Bengal. It was said that two important proposals have to be passed. This meeting was called under my chairmanship. Adhir Ranjan said that till the time of the meeting I was the President of West Bengal Congress but during the meeting Ghulam Ali Mir addressed me as the former President of the state. Then I came to know that I am no longer the President of the state.

was defeated in the Lok Sabha elections

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary joined the Congress party in 1991. In 1999, he won the Lok Sabha election for the first time. In the previous government, he was also the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha. But in this Lok Sabha election, Adhir Ranjan had to face defeat at the hands of Yusuf Pathan in his stronghold, Baharampur. TMC had given ticket to former cricketer Yusuf Pathan.
