Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s backward, Dalit, minority i.e. PDA formula was a big hit in the Lok Sabha elections. On the strength of PDA, Akhilesh destroyed BJP in Uttar Pradesh and now that he has reached Delhi (as an MP), he has started expanding PDA. Many messages are coming out from the appointments he has made recently.
After the successful experiment of PDA, now Akhilesh Yadav has started including Brahmin community in it. That is, the extension of PDA has started becoming visible. Akhilesh Yadav has done this experiment in both the houses.
It is clear from the appointments of Samajwadi Party in the Legislative Party of Lucknow and the separate appointments of the Parliamentary Party in Parliament that Akhilesh has now moved beyond PDA + i.e. PDA in preparation for 2027 and is busy making ABDP i.e. a combination of minorities, Brahmins, Dalits and backward.

A message to the Brahmin community by making Mata Prasad the leader of the opposition
The first appointment made by Akhilesh Yadav regarding his post (Leader of Opposition) in the Assembly surprised everyone. He selected Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of Opposition. Mata Prasad comes from the Brahmin community and is an old socialist. He was close to the late Mulayam Singh Yadav and was among the founding members. He has been an MLA and minister many times. He has also been the Speaker of the Assembly in the SP government. Akhilesh Yadav has chosen Mata Prasad as the leader of his party and the Leader of the Opposition in the House. Akhilesh won the assembly elections from Karhal seat in 2022 and was handling the responsibility of Leader of Opposition. Recently, he contested the general elections from Kannauj seat and left the assembly membership after winning.
In other appointments in the assembly, Akhilesh appointed Mehboob Ali, who comes from the Muslim community, as the chief whip and Kamal Akhtar as the deputy chief whip and sent a message to his Muslim vote bank. RK Verma, who comes from the Kurmi community, was appointed deputy whip and Mohammad Jasmer Ansari was appointed deputy leader of the legislative party.

To satisfy his Yadav vote bank, Akhilesh made Lal Bihari Yadav the leader of the house in the Legislative Council, Kiran Pal Kashyap the chief whip in the Legislative Council and Ashutosh Singh, who comes from the Kayastha caste, the whip. That is, Akhilesh made a bouquet of castes in the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council, in which the picture of his PDA Plus was visible.
Moving ahead from PDA, Akhilesh has tried to include Brahmins and Kayasthas in it. These are the two castes which are considered to be the vote bank of BJP and now Akhilesh is also trying to pull these two communities towards him.

Now let’s talk about the parliament. When Akhilesh Yadav reached the parliament, he took Awadhesh Prasad (MP from Faizabad) hand in hand with him to the parliament building. Awadhesh now always sits in the front row next to Akhilesh. Akhilesh gave a message to the Pasi community from here. This is the Dalit community which has been with the BJP for most of the last decade. But now Akhilesh is sending a direct message to the Pasi community among the Dalits.
BSP had a strong hold on Kushwaha or Maurya community. Later, this community broke away from Mayawati and shifted to BJP, but now after Babu Singh Kushwaha, a big face of Kushwaha community, became MP from Jaunpur, Akhilesh Yadav has made him the Deputy Leader of the House in Lok Sabha. That means he will be second in the Parliament after Akhilesh. He has made his brother Dharmendra Yadav, MP from Azamgarh, the Chief Whip in Lok Sabha. While Awadhesh Prasad has been made a member of the Board of Trustees.
Overall, the appointments that Akhilesh Yadav has made within his party in the legislature and parliament appear to be an effort to further his PDA formula.
What is Akhilesh’s new formula?
After backward, Dalit, minorities, Akhilesh is now seen wooing the upper castes as well and his plan also includes Brahmin vote bank. Since it is believed that the Brahmin community is gradually getting angry with the BJP in UP. In such a situation, after taking Congress along, Akhilesh has now started wooing the Brahmin community. Akhilesh feels that if he moves beyond PDA and woos these communities in 2027, then the formula for victory will become easy for him.
