Now a mob attacks an army convoy in Bangladesh, protesters were demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina

Government, public, officials, judges and now the army. No one is safe in Bangladesh. The violence that has been going on for several days has now become uncontrollable. Meanwhile, there is news of an attack on army personnel as well. This attack on the army vehicle took place in Gopalganj area. According to the Dhaka Tribune report, 15 people including army personnel, journalists and local people have been injured in this incident. Two of the injured have been shot. This incident happened at around 4 pm on Saturday evening when thousands of Awami League workers were on the road demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina.

When the soldiers stopped them from protesting, they attacked

According to the report, thousands of Awami League leaders, workers and locals were demanding the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the country. They had blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Meanwhile, army vehicles arrived there and appealed to the protesters to open the road and end the protest. But the crowd started throwing bricks at them. Later, army personnel used batons to disperse the crowd.

In response, the protesters vandalised the army vehicle and set it on fire. Lieutenant Colonel Maksudur Rahman of Gopalganj Camp confirmed the incident and said that around 3,000 to 4,000 people had gathered and blocked the road. Several army personnel were injured in the attack. Former president of Gopinathpur union Lachu Sharif said that army members opened fire to control the situation. Two people, including a child, were shot. No one died in the incident.

In view of the unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh, Assam Police is on high alert along the India-Bangladesh border to ensure that no person can enter the state illegally. Director General of Police G.P. Singh said that the Centre has issued instructions that no person will be allowed to enter India illegally from Bangladesh.

Attacks on Hindus

Hindus are also being targeted in Bangladesh. Many temples have been set on fire. Meanwhile, interim government chief Mohammad Yunus on Saturday condemned the attacks on violence-hit minority communities. He described the attacks on minorities as heinous and urged all youths to ensure the safety of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist families. According to two Hindu organizations of Bangladesh – Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad, members of minority communities in Bangladesh have faced at least 205 incidents of attacks in 53 districts since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5.
