Now 9th, 10th, 11th marks can be added to 12th board result, read details

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has proposed a new model for the results of class 12th. According to the evaluation model discussed in this new model, now the results of class 12th can have the account of four years. Under this new model, emphasis has also been laid on vocational and skill based training. Right now it has been said in this proposal that the marks of 9th to 11th should be included in the result of class 12th. All this information has been given in the report published by the board titled “Establishing Equivalence across Education Boards”.

According to the report, the result of the 12th board exam will include the entire performance of the students from class 9th to 11th. According to the India Today report, this report has been submitted to the Ministry of Education by PARAKH, a regulatory center under NCERT. In this report of NCERT, it has been proposed that in the new evaluation model, class 11th marks will have 25 percent weightage in the class 12th board result. At the same time, 20 percent weightage will be given to the 10th marks and 15 percent weightage to the 9th marks. Apart from this, the remaining 40 percent marks will be of class 12th.

In this proposal, evaluation has been divided into two parts, formative and summative. Class 9th marks have been divided into 70 percent formative and 30 percent summative. In class 10th, both will be given 50-50 percent weightage. In class 11th, 40 percent assessment will be formative and 60 percent summative. Whereas in class 12th, 30 percent will be formative and 70 percent summative.

It is being told that this report of NCERT has been prepared after discussions with 32 boards in the last one year. Apart from this, the report also talks about promoting topics like data management, coding, application development, AI, music, arts and crafts to promote holistic learning under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). Apart from this, the performance of teachers will also be tested in it.

It is worth noting that the new evaluation model will be based on the credit based system for students of class 9th to 12th. In this, students of class 9th and 10th will have to score 32 credits out of 40. Whereas students of class 11th and 12th will have to score 36 credits out of 44. This new process has not been implemented yet. If the proposal given in this report is accepted, then the students will have to maintain consistency in their performance for all four years.
