Novak Djokovic US Open 2024: Another big upset in US Open 2024, after Alcaraz, now Novak Djokovic is also out

Another big upset has been seen in US Open 2024. Serbia’s star tennis player Novak Djokovic is out of US Open 2024. Novak was defeated by 28th seeded Australian player Alexei Popyrin. In the match played at Arthur Ashe Stadium on August 30, second seed Djokovic lost 4-6, 4-6, 6-2, 4-6. The match lasted for 1 hour and 19 minutes.

This is the first time in 18 years that Djokovic could not even reach the fourth round of the US Open. Djokovic will end the year without any Grand Slam title for the first time since 2017. Before Djokovic, Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz was also eliminated from US Open 2024 after losing in the third round.

…there was a chance to create history by winning the US Open

Let us tell you that Djokovic and former Australian women’s star Margaret Court are tied in terms of winning the most singles Grand Slam titles (women and men). Both have jointly won the most 24 Grand Slam singles titles. However, Margaret won 13 of these titles before the Open Era. The Open Era in tennis started in the year 1968.

If Djokovic wins another Grand Slam title, he will create history. Djokovic has played 37 Grand Slam singles finals in his tennis career, which is the most by any player in the Open era. He has left Swiss legend Roger Federer and Spanish star Rafael Nadal far behind.
