No fear, no wrinkle on the face, no regrets and animal-like tendencies… what came out from the psychological analysis of Sanjay Roy

Psychoanalytic profile of Sanjay Roy, the accused arrested in the case of raping and then killing a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has revealed an important truth. According to a CBI official, psychoanalysis has indicated that he was a pervert and was addicted to watching pornographic material.

Citing doctors at the New Delhi-based Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), the officer told PTI that the accused, Sanjay Roy, a former Kolkata Police volunteer, had “animal-like tendencies”. The body of the female trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of the hospital on August 9. Sanjay Roy was arrested the next day in connection with the case.

The CBI officer said, “The accused has no remorse and without hesitation he revealed every small and big detail of the incident. It seemed as if he had no remorse.” Several pornographic materials were found from Roy’s mobile phone, which was seized by the Kolkata Police. Later, on the orders of the Calcutta High Court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI.

The CBI official said that both technical and scientific evidence “completely proves” that the accused was present at the crime scene. Citing CCTV footage of the hospital, the official said that in the footage, Roy can be seen near the chest diseases ward at around 11 am on August 8.

He said, ‘The footage shows him entering the same building again at around 4 am on August 9. Many technical and scientific evidences confirm this.’ However, the officer did not give any information about the DNA test. He also refused to say anything about the claim being made in the case that this is not a case of gang rape.

CBI officials inspected Roy’s residence in Bhawanipur and also spoke to his family members, neighbours and his colleagues in the Kolkata Police Force.

During 8 and 9 August, Sanjay Roy went inside the hospital on RG four times on different pretexts. Out of these, he came out after roaming around inside the hospital three times. But the fourth and last time he came out of the hospital, by then he had raped and murdered the trainee doctor. But the matter goes beyond this. Investigation has revealed that Sanjay Roy had also gone to a red light area near the hospital on the night of the incident and while returning from there, he had molested a girl on the way. Even after the rape and murder incident, he called a woman and his behavior with her was like that of a pervert.
