Many opposition leaders will not participate in the meeting

Several Chief Ministers of opposition parties have decided not to attend the Governing Council meeting to be held on Saturday. Chief Ministers of three Congress-ruled states – Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah, Himachal Pradesh’s Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Telangana’s Revanth Reddy – have announced that they will not attend the Niti Aayog meeting due to the bias towards their states in the budget.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin, Kerala CM and CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan as well as the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab and Delhi governments have also decided to boycott the meeting. A statement said that the objective of the meeting is to promote participatory governance and cooperation between the central and state governments, enhance the quality of life for both rural and urban population by strengthening the government delivery mechanism. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will take part in the meeting

On the other hand, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Friday that she will participate in the meeting of NITI Aayog in Delhi on July 27. This put an end to the speculations that Mamata Banerjee will also boycott the meeting like other Chief Ministers of the India Alliance. Let us tell you, while talking to reporters at Kolkata airport before leaving for Delhi, Mamata Banerjee said that if I get a chance to register my protest against discrimination against non-NDA ruled states, conspiracy to divide Bengal and its neighboring states and discriminatory budget proposals in the meeting, then I will do so. Otherwise I will walk out of the meeting. Mamata Banerjee said that I was asked to send my written speech seven days before the meeting, which I sent. This was before the presentation of the Union Budget.
