Nirmala Sitharaman-Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee’s mic muted, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has hit back at Mamata Banerjee’s claim of the mic being switched off during the NITI Aayog meeting. She said, whatever the Bengal CM said is completely false and she should speak the truth. Let us tell you, Mamata Banerjee had walked out of the NITI Aayog meeting and alleged that she was not allowed to speak for more than 5 minutes and she was humiliated by switching off the mic.

Nirmala Sitharaman has said that CM Mamata Banerjee attended the Niti Aayog meeting. We all heard her. Each CM was given an allotted time and it was displayed on the screen, which was present in front of every table. She said in the media that her mic was switched off. This is completely false. Each Chief Minister was given a fair amount of time to speak. It is unfortunate that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed that her mic was switched off, which is not true. She should speak the truth.

The government called the allegations baseless

At the same time, the Modi government has also termed Mamata Banerjee’s allegations as baseless. In a statement issued by the government, it has been said that the West Bengal Chief Minister’s mike was not switched off. As per the rules, her turn to speak was to come after lunch. But, on the official request of the West Bengal government, she was given a chance to speak as the seventh speaker in the meeting, as she had to return early.

PIB did a fact check

PIB’s Fact Check unit, which fact checks the fake news related to the Government of India and puts the correct facts in front of the people, shared Mamata Banerjee’s statement on the social media platform ‘X’ and said, it is being claimed that the West Bengal Chief Minister’s microphone was turned off during the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. This claim is misleading. The clock only showed that her speaking time was over. Even the bell was not rung to mark it. PIB Fact Check further said, according to the alphabet, the West Bengal Chief Minister’s turn (to give a speech in the meeting) would have come after lunch. But, on the official request of the West Bengal government, she was included in the meeting as the seventh speaker, as she had to return early.
