The results of the presidential elections in Venezuela have come out. Nicolas Maduro has been elected president for the third time. According to the results, he has got 51 percent votes. At the same time, opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez has got 44 percent votes.

However, the opposition is raising questions on these election results. Because in most exit polls, the opposition’s victory was predicted. Not only this, the opposition has claimed that Edmundo Gonzalez got more than 70 percent of the votes. The opposition claims that it also has data of Gonzalez’s victory.

At the same time, opposition leader Maria Corino Machado has appealed to the army to stand with the ‘right side’ in a social media post. She wrote, ‘This is the time to stand with the right side. You have one chance and it is now.’

Not only the opposition but Britain has also raised questions on Maduro’s victory. The UK has alleged ‘serious irregularities’ in the electoral process. Nicolas Maduro has been the president since 2013. Venezuela has been struggling with political and economic crisis since he came to power. It is estimated that more than 78 lakh people have left Venezuela in 10 years. Reports show that 82 percent of Venezuela’s population is struggling with poverty.
