New Video Challenges Kimberly Cheatle’s ‘Sloped Roof’ Theory in Trump Rally Shooting Incident

Kimberly Cheatle’s ‘Sloped Roof’ Theory Questioned After New Trump Rally Shooting Video Emerges

U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s explanation for the agency’s response to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump is facing scrutiny after new bodycam footage surfaced showing the shooter’s vantage point from the roof of the building.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Cheatle stated that the Secret Service decided against placing an agent on the sloped roof of the building for safety reasons, instead opting to secure the building from the inside. However, the newly released bodycam video clearly shows the gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, firing from the very roof that Cheatle claimed was too hazardous for agents to occupy.

The shooting occurred on July 13th during a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks, who had three encrypted overseas accounts, was spotted by Secret Service agents as a potential threat but was able to take up his position on the roof in a “very short period of time” before opening fire, according to Cheatle.

The incident has sparked fierce criticism of the Secret Service’s handling of the situation and raised questions about potential oversights in their protection of the former president[2]. Cheatle is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Monday, where she is expected to face tough questions about the agency’s response and the sloped roof theory.

The Secret Service has faced additional scrutiny over reports that several temporary agents were assigned to the rally and that the agency had a limited presence at the site in the days leading up to the event. Cheatle has maintained that the Secret Service was adequately staffed and prepared for the rally, but the new video evidence appears to undermine her claims about the sloped roof.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, the Secret Service and its director find themselves under increasing pressure to provide a full and transparent account of the events leading up to and during the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
