Governors of 10 states changed
President Draupadi Murmu appointed several governors in several states including Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Punjab late on Saturday night. The President has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from the post of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra.
According to a statement issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will be the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory Chandigarh, while Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan will be the new Governor of Maharashtra, Santosh Gangwar has been appointed the Governor of Jharkhand, Raman Deka has been appointed the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Laxman Prasad Acharya became the Governor of Assam
Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and has also been given the additional charge of Governor of Manipur, while Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma will be the Governor of Telangana and Om Prakash Mathur will be the new Governor of Sikkim, the statement said.
Raman Deka appointed as Governor of Chhattisgarh
Raman Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayshankar as the Governor of Meghalaya. K Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The statement said that these appointments will be effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
