NEET PG 2024: Hearing in Supreme Court tomorrow on postponement of NEET PG exam, know why the demand is being made

The Supreme Court has approved the hearing on the petition demanding postponement of NEET PG exam. On August 9, three days before the exam, the Supreme Court will hear whether the NEET PG exam should be postponed or not. On behalf of the students, lawyer Anas Tanvir has requested the Supreme Court for a hearing. The Chief Justice of India said that he will hear the case tomorrow.

Actually, the entrance exam for Master of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD) and PG Diploma Program i.e. Postgraduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) will be held on 11 August 2024. The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has recently released the new exam date of NEET PG. NEET PG admit card can be issued any time today. Meanwhile, some NEET PG examinees have demanded postponement of the exam in the Supreme Court.

Why the demand for postponement of NEET PG exam?
After the release of the new exam date of NEET PG exam, some students have filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding postponement of NEET-PG, expressing concern about the allocation of examination centers and normalization of marks of two batches. The petition has raised the question that there is a possibility that one batch of candidates may face a more difficult question paper than the other batch and the formula for normalization should be disclosed before conducting the examination so that there is no possibility of arbitrariness.

The petition states that the petitioners and many similar candidates have been allotted such cities where they may face many difficulties in reaching there. However, information about the exam center will be given through the admit card, which can be released on the official website natboard.edu.in any time today.

The petition also said that more than two lakh students are going to appear in the NEET PG exam. The exam is to be conducted in 185 exam cities. Train tickets to reach the exam centers are not available and flight fares are also very high. This may make it almost impossible for a large number of students to reach their exam centers.

Earlier NEET PG was to be held on 23 June
Let us tell you that NEET PG was earlier scheduled to be held on 23 June but it was postponed amid reports of NEET UG and UGC NET paper leak. After postponing the exam, NBEMS President Abhijat Sheth, while talking to the news agency, said, “As far as NEET PG is concerned, the integrity of this exam was never in doubt. For the last seven years, we have successfully conducted it till now. Due to recent events, what has happened is that there were a lot of concerns among the student communities about all these types of examinations and in response to this, the government has once again decided to ensure that the sanctity and security of the examination should be maintained.” More than 2 lakh candidates are expected to appear in this exam.
