NEET paper leak , During the hearing on the NEET paper leak case on Thursday, the Supreme Court said that ‘NEET-UG 2024 Re-examination is possible only when there is strong evidence that the sanctity of the medical entrance examination has been affected on a large scale. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud made this remark while hearing more than 40 applications. In these applications, there have been allegations of irregularities and rigging in the NEET-UG entrance examination. In the applications, there has been a demand to conduct the medical entrance examination again.

Cannot order re-examination-CJI

The Chief Justice told senior advocate Narendra Hooda, who represented the petitioners in the court, that ‘It must be proved that the paper leak happened in a systematic manner and the entire exam was affected by it, only then can the cancellation of the entire exam be discussed. Out of 23 lakh children, only one lakh students will get admission, in such a situation we cannot order re-examination. The re-examination can be conducted only when there is solid evidence of the entire exam being affected.’

Hearing is being done on priority basis- DY Chandrachud

The CJI specifically mentioned that he is hearing the NEET case on priority. He is looking into this case while postponing the hearing of cases like Google vs CCI and Income Tax Returns. The Chief Justice said that lakhs of students are waiting for the result in the NEET paper leak case.
