Neeraj chopra vs Arshad nadeem Olympics 2024: How Pakistan’s one gold outweighed India’s 5 medals, Arshad gave a ‘double’ blow to the hopes

Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem Javelin Throw at Paris Olympics 2024: In the most awaited event of Paris Olympics 2024, javelin throw, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem defeated India’s Neeraj Chopra. Arshad threw the javelin 92.97 meters away and won the gold. Neeraj Chopra, on the other hand, won the silver medal for India by throwing the javelin 89.45 meters away. Anderson Peters of Grenada won the bronze medal of this event by throwing the javelin 88.54 meters. But one thing happened amidst all this that Pakistan’s one gold medal has outweighed the 5 medals India has won so far in Paris Olympics.

When India’s Neeraj Chopra came down to throw the javelin in Paris at 11:45 pm on August 8, it was expected that he would give India its first gold of this Olympics, but Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem gave Pakistan its first individual gold medal by throwing the medal at a distance of 92.97 meters.

In this way, now Pakistan is at number 53 in the medal tally (till 6 am on 9 August) after winning one gold medal. Whereas India is 11 places below it at number 64. India has won 4 bronze medals including Neeraj’s 1 silver in the Paris Olympics. India has got one bronze medal in hockey, while 3 medals came in shooting.

This means that Pakistan’s one gold medal proved to be too much for India. Due to which Pakistan has reached higher than India in the medal list. Arshad Nadeem gave a double shock by winning the medal, because it was expected that Neeraj Chopra would win the gold medal for India.

If Neeraj had won gold in Paris, he could have become the 5th player in the world and the first player from India to retain the title in Olympic history. Along with this, he could have also become the first Indian to win 2 gold medals in individual events of the Olympics. But he missed this record.

Apart from this, only wrestler Sushil Kumar and badminton star PV Sindhu have won any two medals in individual events in the Olympics before this. After them, Neeraj is the third Indian who has won any two medals in the Olympics. But Sushil and Sindhu could not win the gold medal. They won bronze in Beijing 2008 and then silver in London 2012. While Sindhu won silver in Rio 2016 and bronze in Tokyo 2020.
