The 70th National Film Awards have been announced. Rishabh Shetty got the Best Actor award for ‘Kantara’. Nithya Menon and Manshi Paresh won the Best Actress award. Neena Gupta once again made her mark in this list. She has received the Best Supporting Actress award for the film ‘Unchai’.
This film, which came in 2022, was directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra and Sarika also appeared in important roles in it.
Neena Gupta’s reaction
In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Neena Gupta expressed her happiness on winning the National Award. For a moment, she could not believe that she has received this award. She says- I am very shocked. It has been 2 years since the film was released. This is a big surprise for me. National Award is a big deal. Someone just told me. I do not know that Sooraj Barjatya has also received the Best Director award for ‘Unchai.
“Forget about awards. I am grateful even when I get work. Getting an award for work is a big achievement. I had fun while shooting for the film. I love Sooraj Barjatya. He was very calm on the set. There was no shouting. It was great working with everyone.”
Won National Award 3 times
This achievement of National Award is very special for Neena. Because there was a time in her career when she was forced to ask for work. After this she did the film ‘Badhaai Ho’, since then she has been seen playing one role after another in many projects. Through acting, Neena has shown her talent in many shades. The result of strong acting is that till now she has won the National Award three times.
Neena received the Best First Non Feature Film Director award for the 1993 film ‘Bazaar Sitaram’. Then in 1994 she received the Best Supporting Actress award for the film ‘Woh Chhokri’. She played the role of a young widow in the movie.
Neena Gupta has been working in showbiz for years. She has shown her talent on TV along with films. She has worked in serials like ‘Saans’, ‘Ladies Special’, ‘Saath Phere – Saloni Ka Safar’, ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’. Apart from acting, Neena has also directed and produced shows. Talking about films, Neena has appeared in ‘Mulk’, ‘Gandhi’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Badhaai Ho’, ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’, ‘Goodbye’, ‘Vadh’, ‘Lust Stories 2’. These days she is ruling the OTT platform.
