Jharkhand Bihar Band: The CPI Maoist Naxalite organization has announced Jharkhand-Bihar bandh on July 25 and ‘Shaheedi Saptah’ from July 28 to August 3. In view of this announcement, the police department in both the states has issued an alert. The intelligence department has also advised to be extra cautious.

Why was it called off?

Jharkhand-Bihar bandh has been called in protest against the arrest of Naxal leader Vivek’s wife Jaya Hembram along with three other Naxals who have a bounty of Rs 1 crore on their head on their head.

Azad, the spokesperson of the Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee of the organization, has issued a press release regarding this. Jharkhand Police had earlier placed a bounty of 24 lakhs on female Naxalite Jaya Hembram, which was later withdrawn. Last week, when she had gone to a private hospital in Dhanbad for cancer treatment, the police arrested her on the basis of secret information.

Three people including Jaya Hembram were arrested

Azad, spokesperson of the Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee of CPI Maoists, claimed in a press release that along with Jaya Hembram alias Jaya Di, three other people, Shanti Kumari, Doctor Pandey and their associates have been arrested by Jharkhand Police, but no information has been given about their arrest.

Police confiscated the posters

Naxalites have put up posters and banners announcing a shutdown on Monday-Tuesday and martyrdom week at several places in the Karaikela police station area of Chaibasa district of Jharkhand. On receiving information about this, the police have confiscated the posters.

The intelligence department has expressed apprehension that Naxalites can also damage railway tracks and government property. In view of this, advice has been given to maintain tight security in police pickets, posts and police stations. The police headquarters has instructed all the district headquarters of the state to carry out vigilant long patrolling and keep a special watch on sensitive areas in view of the announcement of Naxalites.
