Uttar Pradesh government filed affidavit in Supreme Court in nameplate dispute

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has now filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing the petitions challenging its directive regarding displaying the names of shop owners on the Kanwar Yatra route.

Order given keeping in mind religious sentiments

The government has said that this instruction has been given to ensure the peaceful completion of the Kanwar Yatra and to ensure comprehensive transparency. The Uttar Pradesh government said that the objective behind this instruction is to ensure transparency and to inform the consumer/Kanwadis about the choice of food consumed during the journey, keeping in mind their religious sentiments, so that they do not go against their faith even by mistake.

Let us tell you, earlier a petition was filed in the court in support of this order. Petitioner Surjit Singh Yadav had said that this order was given to maintain the convenience, faith and law and order of Shiv Bhakts. He had said that it has been unnecessarily given a communal color. Petitioner Surjit Singh Yadav said that the people who have filed the petition in the court on this matter are not shopkeepers, but those who want to give it a political color. Citing the fundamental rights of Shiv Bhakts, the petitioner had also demanded to be made a party in this case and to hear his side.
