Murder or suicide… What did the father of the two Dalit girls found hanging from a tree in Farrukhabad say?

There has been a stir after the bodies of two girls from the Dalit community were found hanging from a tree in the Kaimganj area of Farrukhabad. These two friends had gone out to watch a program on Janmashtami, but did not return home and their bodies were found hanging from the same dupatta. The father of one of these girls has expressed the suspicion of murder of his daughter, while the police has ruled out the possibility of rape and murder and is looking at this case as a suicide.

The father of one of these girls said that my daughter and her friend who lives in the neighborhood had gone to see the tableau on Janmashtami last night. When she did not return late at night, we thought that she must have stayed at her aunt’s house in the village. In the morning, we got the information that two girls had hanged themselves. When we went to the spot, my daughter and her friend were hanging from a tree with the same dupatta. We feel that they have been murdered. A mobile and slippers were also found there.

What did the SP say in this matter?

Farrukhabad SP Alok Priyadarshi said that we received information from Kaimganj’s Bhagoutipur village that two girls (aged 18 and 15 years) were found hanging from a tree. It has been learned that both were close friends. Both hanged themselves using the same dupatta. In the initial investigation, it seems that the girls have done this themselves, but things will be clear only after the postmortem. We have recovered a phone and SIM from the spot. We are investigating the case to find out the reason behind this incident.

Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of women’s safety

Meanwhile, SP President Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a fair investigation in this case. Akhilesh said, “The bodies of two girls, who had gone to see the Janmashtami festival in Farrukhabad, UP, found hanging from a tree is a very sensitive incident. The BJP government should immediately conduct an impartial investigation in this matter and submit its report in this suspicious case of murder. Such incidents create a horrific environment in the society, which mentally traumatizes women. The inevitable time has come to raise ‘women safety’ as a serious issue, rising above politics.”

The state has become a crematorium for women: Congress

On the other hand, UP Congress also surrounded the Yogi government on this issue and said that this state has become a crematorium for women. UP Congress wrote on X, “In Farrukhabad, the bodies of two girls who had gone to the temple on the day of Janmashtami were found hanging in a mango orchard. Who hanged them here? Why did they hang them? Nobody knows anything. This state has become a crematorium for women. No woman who steps out of her house feels safe here. The government must take some concrete steps to rein in these fearless beasts! Till when will our sisters and daughters keep breathing in the shadow of fear?”
