MP: Tribal forced to tie his shoe laces, NSA imposed on miscreant

The district administration in Indore, Madhya Pradesh has imposed the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against a miscreant arrested for beating a tribal youth on the road and forcing him to tie shoe laces. The accused was arrested soon after the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishikesh Meena said that in Bhawarkuan police station area, the accused Ritesh Rajput (28) beat up and tortured a 22-year-old tribal youth on August 18 after a dispute over driving on the road. The miscreant forced the victim to tie his shoe laces.

The DCP said, on the recommendation of the police, the district administration has issued an arrest warrant against the accused Rajput under the NSA. This warrant has been executed and the accused will be sent to jail under the NSA. He said that the absconding co-accused in the case has been identified as Rohit Rathore and a search is being conducted to arrest him.

The incident of publicly beating up a tribal youth and forcing him to tie shoe laces was captured on CCTV camera. After the video surfaced on social media, people of the tribal community have expressed strong resentment.

Another police officer said that there are already about 10 criminal cases registered against the miscreant Rajput. The police had issued a bound over order against Rajput for 3 years in November 2023, but he violated it and committed a crime. The police officer said that a separate case has been registered against the miscreant for violating the restraining order.
