MP: Mastermind of stone pelting in police station arrested: Shahzad Ali was going to secretly surrender in court, hid his face and sat in an e-rickshaw, police caught him

Haji Shahzad Ali, the mastermind of stone pelting on Chhatarpur Kotwali, was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon. Haji was secretly going to surrender in the court, which the police got information about and surrounded him and caught him outside the district court. Chhatarpur SP Agam Jain had declared Shahzad absconding and put a reward of Rs 10,000 on him. A lookout notice was also issued.

Police said that the accused was hiding his face and running away in an e-rickshaw. However, on the information of the informer, Kotwali TI Arvind Kujur along with his team caught the accused near the traffic police station.

A reward of Rs 10,000 each was announced against 6 people including Haji Shahzad Ali, the main accused in the Chhatarpur Kotwali violence. Along with this, a lookout notice was also issued due to the possibility of Shahzad fleeing abroad.

A police press release said that Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain had informed the districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh adjoining Chhatarpur about all the wanted accused in the case.

Chhatarpur police said, “So far 37 accused have been arrested. The process of expelling 6 accused with previous criminal records from the district has been started. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vikram Singh said that electronic and physical evidence has been collected against the accused. Two swords were seized from one of the arrested accused, Nazim Chaudhary, while electronic evidence has been recovered from accused Mohammad Irfan Chisht.

The prime accused Shehzad Ali’s palatial mansion was demolished by bulldozers on August 22, a day after the protests. Administration officials claimed that Shehzad had built the mansion without the required permission.

Let us tell you that a protest was held in Chhatarpur city on August 21 to condemn the alleged objectionable remarks of Nashik-based spiritual guru Ramgiri Maharaj of Maharashtra. During this, violence broke out. The mob pelted stones at the Kotwali police station, in which several policemen were injured and vehicles were damaged.
