Adi Kailash road closed, This time, monsoon has started showing its fierce form as soon as it arrived in Uttarakhand. The havoc of heavy rains is being seen in the entire state. All the rivers are in spate. Mountains are getting submerged in rivers like straws, while debris fallen on the roads is blocking the routes. Adi Kailash Yatra route is closed for three-four days. Due to this, 23 passengers stranded in Tawaghat were rescued by Kotwali Dharchula Police, SSB and NDRF team and taken to a safe place.

Due to the landslides caused by continuous rains in Pithoragarh district, the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road connecting the India-China international border is closed at places like Tapovan, Dobat, Kulagad etc. Due to this, 23 pilgrims returning from Shri Adi Kailash Yatra were stranded in Tawaghat for three-four days.

On receiving information about stranded passengers, as per the orders of Superintendent of Police Pithoragarh, Rekha Yadav, on Saturday, under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Pithoragarh, Parvez Ali, in coordination with Inspector in Charge Kotwali Dharchula, Vijendra Shah SSB and NDRF team, all the stranded passengers were safely taken to a safe place by carrying out a joint rescue operation. All the passengers appreciated the work of police, NDRF and SSB team and expressed their gratitude to them.

1.59 lakh devotees visited Baba Barfani

Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) officials said that 1.59 lakh devotees had darshan of Baba Barfani in the last eight days at the Amarnath temple in Kashmir. However, the ongoing yatra was temporarily suspended due to heavy rains. But on Saturday, 7 thousand 500 people had darshan, taking the total number of devotees to 1.59 lakh. “Yesterday the yatra was temporarily suspended due to heavy rains and slippery roads. Still, 7,500 pilgrims had ‘darshan’ inside the holy cave temple,” officials said. Another batch of 6,145 pilgrims left for the valley today in two security convoys from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu.
