Monsoon Session 2024, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju held a meeting with the leaders of all political parties in both the Houses of Parliament ahead of the Budget Session-2024. Many leaders of the opposition also attended this meeting. According to the information received, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Sunday that in the all-party meeting held before the Parliament session, Janata Dal (United) and YSRCP demanded special state status for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh respectively, but the strange thing was that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) remained silent on this matter.

Congress leader gave information on X

In a post on ‘X’, Ramesh said that in the all-party meeting of the leaders of the House today chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the JD (U) leader demanded special status for Bihar. At the same time, the YSRCP leader demanded special status for Andhra Pradesh. Strangely, the TDP leader remained silent on this issue.

Ramesh’s social media post came when the meeting was still going on. Andhra Pradesh leaders have been demanding special status for the state for a long time. This demand has once again gained momentum after the Lok Sabha elections.

There was a demand to open the central hall once again

Ramesh, in a post on ‘X’, said that the universal demand in the all-party meeting of the leaders of the House has been that the Central Hall should be opened once again for MPs to interact with each other and improve communication between parties. After the inauguration of the new Parliament building, the historic Central Hall has stopped being used. Ramesh, in a separate post, said how the political atmosphere has changed! At the all-party meeting, the BJD leader reminded Defence Minister and BJP president JP Nadda that the BJP’s manifesto for the 2014 Odisha Assembly elections had promised special status to the state.
