Nawab Malik gets bail from Supreme Court

money laundering case, The Supreme Court has granted bail on medical grounds to former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, accused in the money laundering case. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma noted the arguments of the lawyer appearing for Malik that Malik is suffering from several diseases. The apex court said that Malik’s medical bail will remain valid till the disposal of the regular bail petition in the Bombay High Court. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, did not oppose the grant of bail and said that interim medical bail could be made permanent.

Malik is suffering from chronic kidney disease

Let us tell you, in February 2022, the ED arrested Malik in a case related to the activities of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. Malik had sought relief from the High Court and claimed that he is suffering from chronic kidney disease among many other diseases. He had also sought bail on merit. The ED case against Malik is based on an FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against global terrorist and prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.
