JMM leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is currently in Delhi. A day earlier, he is said to have met Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati, then last night he reached Kolkata and met Suvendu Adhikari here. Now he has also removed the name of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha from his X (formerly Twitter) handle. It is being said that he may join the BJP and along with him some more JMM MLAs are ready to defect.
When asked about this, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday targeted Champai Soren and BJP in gestures without naming them. He alleged that divisions are being created in the ‘family and party’ on the basis of money. Talking to Aaj Tak, Hemant Soren said, ‘Very soon the election bell is going to ring in the state, our opponent BJP has the bell to know when the elections will be held. The Election Commission is no longer a constitutional institution, it has now become an institution of the BJP. We challenge them and say that hold the elections today, tomorrow they will have to go to Gujarat after sweeping and mopping.’
Hemant Soren said, ‘These people bring people from Gujarat, Assam, Maharashtra and spread poison among the tribals, Dalits, backward classes and minorities and make them fight with each other. Forget about society, these people break families and break parties. They will buy this MLA or that MLA every other day, and money is such a thing that it does not take long for leaders to move here and there, no problem. Our India Alliance government has been standing among the people since 2019.’
According to sources, the 6 JMM MLAs who are expected to rebel along with Champai Soren include Dashrath Gagrai, Ramdas Soren, Chamra Linda, Lobin Hembram and Sameer Mohanty. However, Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai has issued a statement dismissing the speculation of joining BJP. He said, ‘I can never betray JMM. I will eat half a roti but will not let the honour of JMM fall. Guru Shibu Soren is my leader.’
