If we had known about the debt, we would have talked to him and explained it to him. We would not have let him take this step, but he never mentioned it.

According to Darshanlal- Saurabh went to his in-laws’ house with his wife Mona and two children on Friday night (9 August), then left the children there and left for Haridwar with his wife. It was learnt from people that he committed suicide by jumping into the Ganga in Haridwar. I had met him two days before this incident. Saurabh used to run a gold committee along with the jewellery shop

Saurabh lived separately from his family after marriage. Saurabh had a jewellery shop in Kishunpura for 12 years. Investigation has revealed that Saurabh was running 7 committee groups and each group had around 200 members, i.e. around 1400 members used to give committee money to Saurabh.

Every person (committee member) used to deposit 2000 rupees per month with him. According to this, he used to get 28 lakh rupees every month. This committee was for 20 months, that is, every person used to give him 40 thousand rupees for 20 months. Saurabh gave this money to a big jeweler so that he could make many gold ornaments for him in exchange of money and he could give those ornaments to his winning members on lucky draw.

This Gold Committee This was the rule. Members used to get gold/silver or jewellery in exchange of cash. The lucky draw was to be held on 10th August, but before that Saurabh committed suicide. It is being said that the son of the big jeweller to whom Saurabh had given money fled to Dubai with that money. Due to which Saurabh did not get jewellery in exchange of cash. When he did not get any goods, he was not able to answer his committee members. At the same time, the members were pressurising him.

It is also being said that Saurabh had invested a large part of this amount in the share market. But he suffered a huge loss in the share market and became a debtor. Finally, troubled by the debtors and the loss of money, he embraced death. At present, the committee members are in trouble due to this step of Saurabh. Because, they had deposited their hard-earned money with Saurabh. They were expecting good returns. But now forget about returns, they are facing problems even with the principal amount.

Pain expressed in suicide note

Expressing his pain in the suicide note, Saurabh Babbar wrote- ‘I am tired of paying interest, now I am not being able to pay interest anymore, so I am committing suicide. I will send a selfie from wherever I commit suicide.’ Before jumping into the river, Saurabh made his last call to his family, the recording of which has gone viral.
