Modi government is going to present the Waqf Board bill in the Parliament tomorrow!

Narendra Modi government can present the Waqf Board Bill in Lok Sabha tomorrow. According to sources, the government is going to present this bill tomorrow itself. It is being told that the government wants to take all the parties along in this bill. Therefore, the government can send the bill to the Select Committee to build a consensus on it.

According to sources, the government’s priority is to get this bill passed in the House with consensus and to provide justice to poor Muslims, Muslim women and orphan Muslims. If consensus is not reached on this bill in the House, then the government can also send this bill to a joint committee for further discussion.

The government has consulted 70 groups

In the last 2 months, the government has consulted about 70 groups on this bill. The aim of the bill is to free the Waqf properties from illegal occupation. Let us tell you that Waqf has the largest movable and immovable property in the country. Although, Railways and Defense are above it, but they are government properties.

‘The power to own property will decrease’

In this bill, the government is also preparing to change Section 40 of the existing Waqf Board Act. This rule gives the board the power to declare any property as its land. In this new bill, the role of the Central Waqf Council and State Waqf Boards can be significantly modified, as well as ensures representation of Muslim women and non-Muslims in these bodies.

Proposal for a separate board for Bohras and Aagakhanis

The bill also proposes the establishment of a separate Waqf Board for Bohras and Agakhanis. The draft law recommends representation of Shia, Sunni, Bohra, Agakhani and other backward classes among Muslim communities. One of its objectives is to streamline the method of registration of Waqf through a central portal and database. Before registering any property as Waqf property, a detailed process will have to be followed as per revenue laws with proper notice to all concerned.
