Metro schedule changed on Independence Day, these passengers will get exemption, DMRC gave information

Special preparations are going on in the country’s capital Delhi for the upcoming 15th August. In view of Independence Day, many changes have also been made in the metro services. For the convenience of the public in the Independence Day celebrations on 15th August 2024, Delhi Metro will start its services on all its lines from all terminal stations at 04:00 am. Metro facility will be available at an interval of every 15 minutes till 6 am on this day. After this, the metro will run as per the normal time table.

Apart from this, those who have invitation cards issued by the Ministry of Defense to participate in the Independence Day celebrations will be allowed entry and travel on showing a valid government photo identity card at the stations. This arrangement will be valid only for exit at Lal Qila, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk metro stations, as these stations are closest to the venue. At the same time, the invitation cards will also be valid only for return journey from these three stations. Regular announcements will be made inside the trains to inform the passengers about these arrangements. The Ministry of Defense will reimburse the travel expenses of such passengers to DMRC.

Stringent security arrangements made

Delhi Police has made tight security arrangements for 15th August. Passengers will also be checked twice at metro stations so that no mistake is made. India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day this year. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the Red Fort. Apart from this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth and safe flow of traffic in the capital city. Many roads near the Red Fort will be closed for general traffic from 4:00 am to 10:00 am on 15th August. Only vehicles with official label will be allowed on these roads.
