Men will have to pay a heavy price for travelling in female coach of Delhi Metro, DMRC has started a campaign

To increase the safety and convenience of women passengers, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a special campaign to prevent illegal entry of male passengers in women’s coaches. This campaign was started on 27 August 2024 and will be run on all lines of Delhi Metro.

To carry out this initiative, DMRC has deployed ten flying squads. Each flying squad will consist of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP) and DMRC personnel. These flying squads have been assigned the task of conducting inspections throughout the day to ensure strict compliance of the rules. Their primary objective is to prevent unauthorized male passengers from entering the women’s coach and prevent any incident of misbehavior.

On the first day of the campaign, the flying squad took action against 140 male passengers. 108 men were counseled and removed from the women’s coach, while 32 were fined Rs 250 under the Delhi Metro (O&M) Act. Let us tell you that the flying squad will continue this campaign to create a safe environment for women in the metro.

Women passengers have been advised to report any kind of misbehavior or unauthorized entry in women’s coaches through DMRC’s 24×7 helpline number 155370. DMRC informed that the first coach of all metro trains is reserved exclusively for women passengers. Male passengers are advised to avoid traveling in these women reserved coaches.

This initiative has been started by DMRC to give priority to the safety of women and to make the journey comfortable for all. Such campaigns have been run by DMRC earlier also to maintain a safe environment inside the metro system.
