Meerut: Life imprisonment to 7 murderers of councilor and his associate, fined Rs 1 lakh, had entered the salon and fired bullets

In the case of murder of a councilor and his companion in Meerut in 2007, the police sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of one lakh rupees was also imposed. ADGC Crime Prerna Verma said that on Tuesday the court has sentenced the accused through video call. 9 accused were made in this case, in which one accused died during the trial. One was acquitted and 7 accused were sentenced. The court of District Judge Court-2 Prahlad Singh also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees while sentencing all the seven accused.

Let us tell you, in 2017, Municipal Councilor Arif and his friend Shadab were murdered in Thana Kotwali area. Arif and Shadab were murdered because they were witnesses in the murder of Sonali alias Jamshed Kinnar which took place on 26 December 2016. In the year 2017, Councilor Arif and Shadab, who had come to Nai’s shop for shaving, were shot dead by miscreants.

In this much talked about double murder case, District Government Advocate Sarvesh Sharma said that ADGC Prerna Verma had presented a total of 12 witnesses. The court gave both the parties a full opportunity to present their side and pronounced the verdict on Tuesday. The accused involved in the incident, Saqib, Shariq, Kashif alias Cheeta, Tariq, Rashid, Raju and Tabish were considered accused.

According to the information, a total of 9 accused were made in this case, in which one accused died during the trial and one was acquitted by the court. 7 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 1 lakh each. The police-administration remained in alert mode to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate during the verdict. Apart from police and PAC, QRT was also deployed during the court proceedings. After the court order, all the accused were taken into judicial custody.

After hearing both the sides, the accused Tariq, Rashid Raju, Tabish, Saqib, Shariq, Kashif and Cheeta were held guilty. Nadeem was acquitted due to lack of evidence. One of the accused has died due to illness. It is being said that Shariq and Faiq, who are in jail, had got Arif killed.
