Manu Bhaker won bronze medal in Paris Olympics: India’s medal account has been opened in Paris Olympics 2024. This account has been opened by star shooter Manu Bhaker. She has created history by winning bronze with a score of 221.7 in the 10 meter air pistol event. Manu has become the first Indian woman to win any medal in shooting.

After winning the medal, Manu Bhaker has given a statement about Shrimad Bhagavad Gita in her statement. She also said that she is a devotee of Lord Krishna and in the last moments, keeping his words in mind, she aimed at the medal.

Bronze medalist Manu Bhaker said that she reads Geeta Ji every day. She also believes a lot in doing her duty. She does not think much about the future.

Lord Shri Krishna’s words were on my mind

Manu Bhaker said, ‘I just focus on giving my best performance. I cannot control my destiny.’ Talking about the last moments while winning the medal, Manu Bhaker said, ‘In the Gita, Lord Shri Krishna had asked Arjuna to focus only on his work. The same was going on in my mind as well.’

He further said, ‘The Tokyo Olympics were disappointing for me, but what’s done is done. This medal is for all of us. It is always teamwork. I am just a medium to win this medal for India.’

The only Indian athlete to participate in multiple events

22-year-old Manu Bhaker is competing in the women’s 10m air pistol, 10m air pistol mixed team and women’s 25m pistol events at the Paris Olympics 2024 shooting competition. She is the only athlete from the 21-member Indian shooting team to participate in multiple individual events.

Manu had secured a Paris 2024 Olympics quota for India after finishing fifth in the women’s 25m pistol event at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships. Manu Bhaker is the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup. She is also the Commonwealth Games champion in the women’s 10m air pistol event at Gold Coast 2018, where she won the top medal with a CWG record.

Manu Bhaker is also the first Indian shooter and the country’s first female athlete to win a gold medal at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires 2018. She won the women’s 25m team pistol title at the Asian Games last year.
