Mamata’s oath on a rape that happened 31 years ago had set the sun of the left, now she herself is in question

West Bengal is in the center of discussion these days. The reason for this is the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. There is anger against this brutality in the whole country, people are on the streets. Questions are also being raised on Mamata Banerjee’s government. CM Mamata seems to be surrounded by this uproar and the entire incident that has been going on for 11 days. The investigation of the case is in the hands of CBI. There are still many unresolved questions related to this case, but this incident has refreshed the memories of another incident 31 years old. This story is special and relevant because this incident was also a rape incident. Mamata Banerjee was also in the lead role and even then questions were raised on the government.

When a handicapped girl was raped in 1993…

It was the beginning of the year 1993. At that time Jyoti Basu’s government was in power in the state and the leftists were dominant. At that time a disabled person was raped in Nadia district. The Jyoti Basu government was being attacked. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee reached Writers Building (Secretariat of the Government of West Bengal) with the victim. She sat on a dharna in front of the door of the chamber of the then Chief Minister Jyoti Basu to meet him. Mamata alleged that the culprits were not being arrested because of political connections. But Basu did not meet her.

Dragged down the stairs, clothes torn

When Basu was about to arrive and despite all the persuasion Mamta did not agree to move from there, the women police personnel dragged her and the victim down the stairs and took them to the police headquarters at Lalbazar. Mamta’s clothes were torn during this.

Then Mamta took an oath…

It is said that after this incident, Mamata had vowed that she would step into this building again only after becoming the Chief Minister. Finally, on 20 May 2011, after about 18 years, she stepped into this historic red building again as the Chief Minister.

The roots of leftism were shaken in 18 years

In these 18 years, Mamata did so many dharnas against the leftist government that it shook the foundation of the leftist government. Eventually, Mamata came to power in the state. It is said that former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu was so irritated with Mamata’s politics that he never even took her name in public. Instead, he always addressed Mamata as ‘that woman’.

Rape case and ‘question’ on Mamta

Although Mamata’s political career has many stories, every layer of which is interesting and full of struggle. But questions have been raised many times on Mamata’s role in rape cases in the state. Mamata is constantly under question on the incident of rape-murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. However, this is not the first case when questions have been raised on Mamata in such cases.

How can we forget the Hanskhali case, when Mamata dismissed the rape incident as an affair. Similarly, she had called the people protesting in Kamudni as CPI(M) supporters. ‘Rapes’ top the list of Mamata Banerjee’s mistakes. Especially if someone from her party is guilty. Mamata Banerjee has called many rape cases false year after year during her years in power. She herself becomes the victim when she is asked to answer on rape cases as a woman leader. If questions are asked by the opposition, she makes counter allegations.
