West Bengal woman beating, After the video of a woman being brutally beaten up in public in Bengal surfaced, the Mamata government of the state has come under the target of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP has compared the Mamata government to a Taliban-like government. The BJP has alleged that there is no such thing as law and order in the state. Sharia courts are being set up under the rule of TMC. This video of the woman being beaten up is being reported from North Dinajpur. Union Minister and party president JP Nadda, targeting the Mamata government, said that such cruelty and barbarity only happens in theocracies.

West Bengal is not safe for women: Nadda

He said that ‘TMC leaders and its MLAs are justifying this beating. This is a matter of further concern. Be it Sandeshkhali, North Dinajpur or any other place. Didi’s West Bengal is not safe for women.’

The accused is close to TMC MLA- Malviya

BJP media cell in-charge Amit Malviya said that this is the ugly face of Mamata government. The person who is brutally beating the woman in the video is named Tajmul and is known as JCB in the area. He is notorious for giving instant justice through his ‘Insaaf’ Sabha. This person is close to MLA Hamidur Rahman. Sharia law is going on in Bengal. People should be aware against it. There is a Sandeshkhali in every village and Mamata Banerjee is a curse for women. Will Mamata Banerjee take action this time or will she remain silent like Sandeshkhali.

Woman labelled a ‘wicked beast’

After the video surfaced, Chopra’s TMC MLA Rahman called the woman an ‘evil animal’. The MLA claims that her activities were antisocial. Rahman said, ‘This is a village matter, it has nothing to do with the party. The woman had left her husband, son and daughter. She had become an evil animal. Whatever happened to the woman was a bit too much.’ However, after this statement was criticized, Rahman came on the back foot and clarified.

Tajmul was arrested by the police

The West Bengal police registered a case over the incident on Sunday and arrested Tajmul. The man seen in the video beating the two men with a stick is reportedly a local Trinamool leader from Chopra in North Dinajpur district, where the incident took place following the illegal court (kangaroo court) verdict.

… people kept watching the spectacle

Islampur police issued a statement saying, ‘Some people are trying to spread misinformation about the incident that took place at Chopra police station under Islampur police station. The truth is that the police immediately identified and arrested a person who attacked a woman in public.’ The statement said that the victim couple has been provided police protection, a suo motu case has been registered and investigation has been started. Earlier in the day, Islampur Superintendent of Police Joby Thomas K. had said that the police had seen the video clip on social media and registered a case after verification. In the video clip, a man is seen beating a woman and the woman is groaning in pain, while a large number of people are watching the spectacle.
