‘Mamata government is not cooperating with CISF personnel deployed at RG Kar Hospital’, Central government approached Supreme Court

The central government has approached the Supreme Court raising concerns over inadequate arrangements for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. CISF was deployed here following the order of the apex court and now the Center has filed a contempt case against the West Bengal government for allegedly failing to comply with this order.

The Centre has filed a contempt case against the state of West Bengal for not following the Supreme Court’s order. 92 CISF personnel are deployed at RG Kar Hospital, out of which 54 are women. The Centre alleges that the CISF personnel deployed for the security of the hospital are facing huge housing problems.

Big allegation on Mamta government

The centre alleges that women security personnel are not getting proper accommodation and proper place to keep security equipment is not available. The centre says that not providing facilities to CISF can prove to be very harmful in view of the current situation in the state of West Bengal.

While levelling a big allegation on the Mamata government, the central government has said that such non-cooperation is not expected from the state government in a tense situation like the present one. The safety of doctors and especially women doctors should be the top priority for the state of West Bengal.

According to the government, ‘The inaction of the State of West Bengal despite repeated requests is a symptom of a systemic malaise, in which such non-cooperation with central agencies working under the orders of the court is not normal. This is a deliberate non-compliance of the orders of the Hon’ble Court.’

Mamata government is deliberately creating obstacles- Center

The government has said that the state government’s deliberate non-compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble Court is not only contemptuous but also against all the constitutional and moral principles that the state should follow. The Center alleged that the state government is deliberately creating obstacles.

The Centre alleges that the state government is deliberately not making efforts towards finding a solution to the problem and instead, is doing injustice to its own residents.
