Malaysia: Indian woman fell into a sinkhole, rescue operation lasted for 9 days, no clue

The Indian tourist woman who fell into a deep pit in Malaysia 9 days ago has still not been found. The rescue operation that was going on for the last 9 days to save the woman has now been stopped. This decision has been taken in view of the difficulties being faced in conducting the search operation.

Let us tell you that a 48-year-old woman named G Vijaya fell into a sinkhole (26 feet deep pit) near Jalan Masjid in the capital of Malaysia on August 23. After this accident, a rescue operation was launched to search for her, but till now no trace of her has been found.

Decision taken after discussion with scientists

According to Malaysia’s Union Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, after taking technical advice from experts, it has now been decided to stop the rescue operation. Dr. Zaliha said that after 9 days of search and rescue, there was a discussion between the cabinet as well as the police, search team, geologists. After the discussion, it has been decided to stop the rescue mission.

Efforts are on to trace the woman

Dr. Jaliha said that during the rescue operation, an obstruction was detected in the sinkhole. However, it could not be ascertained what it was. He further said that a second sinkhole has also appeared in the area, which has increased the risk for the rescue workers. The minister further said that efforts to locate the woman will continue even after the operation is over.

Told the Indian ambassador and family

Dr Jaliha said she has also spoken to the Indian Ambassador to Malaysia, who expressed her gratitude for the efforts made so far. She also said that the Ambassador understands the logic behind calling off the active search. She also confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed about the decision. Their visa has been extended for a week to support them during this difficult time.
