Mahindra Thar Rocks Variant Details: Mahindra & Mahindra today on the occasion of Independence Day has officially launched the five-door model of its famous SUV Thar, Thar ROXX, for sale. The company has launched this SUV in the market at a very affordable price.

The starting price of the petrol model of the new Thar Roxx starts at just Rs 12.99 lakh and the diesel variant starts at Rs 13.99 lakh. The company had announced the prices of only its base variant late last night, today the prices of almost all its variants have been announced. However, the prices of some more variants are yet to be announced, which the company will make public after booking.

Bookings & Deliveries:

The company says that the test drive of Thar Roxx will start from September 14. After this, official booking will start from October 3. This SUV can be booked through the company’s website and authorized dealership. Delivery of the new five-door Thar Roxx will start on the occasion of Dussehra. How is the new Thar Roxx:

Compared to the 3-door Thar, the Thar Rocks gets an all-new design front grille that comes with 6 double-stacked slots. While the Thar 3-door gets 7 slots. The headlamps retain the round shape design, but they now get an LED projector setup with C-shaped daytime running lamps. Higher variants are expected to get LED fog lamps. The front bumper incorporates some unique design elements, along with integrated fog lamp housings and brushed aluminium bits in the centre.

The mid-variant of the Rocks gets 18-inch alloy wheels. While the higher variants are expected to get chunky wheel arches and stylish 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The front door looks similar to the standard Thar, the rear door has a unique vertically positioned handle. The quarter glass of the rear door has a triangular shape, which looks inspired by the Thar EV concept. The Thar Rocks will have a dual-tone paint shade for most variants – with a contrast black roof – which will give it a removable hardtop look.

Note: Here MT stands for manual transmission and AT stands for automatic transmission. All prices are in lakh rupees and are ex-showroom.

Thar Roxx MX1 (Features and Engine):
Price: Petrol MT- 12.99 Lakh, Diesel MT- 13.99 Lakh

In the base variant of Thar Roxx, the company has given a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine which generates 162hp power and 330Nm torque. The petrol engine is mated to a manual gearbox. In the diesel option, the company has given a 2.2 liter diesel engine, which generates 152hp power and 330Nm torque. It is also mated to a manual transmission gearbox.

Talking about the features, MX1 has a multilink rear suspension system with Watts linkage. It has a brake locking differential. The company says that its water wading capacity is 650 mm. Dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation make its cabin even better. Apart from this, the facility of adjusting the driver seat height has also been provided.

It has LED projector headlamps, LED taillamps, dual-tone metal top, 18-inch steel wheels, push start button, rear seat split in 60:40 ratio. The same dashboard as the 3-door is provided inside the Thar Rocks. But some premium elements like soft-touch material are seen on the dashboard and door pads. Talking about safety, three-point seat belts for all passengers, electronic stability control (ESC), 6 airbags, brake locking differential, electronic power steering are included.

Thar Roxx MX3 (Features and Engine):
Price: Petrol AT- 14.99 Lakh, Diesel MT- 15.99 Lakh

Apart from the features provided in the previous MX1 model, driving modes (zip and zoom) and terrain modes (snow, sand and mud) have been included in the Roxx MX3. Apart from this, rear camera, hill ascent and descent assist, traction control system have been provided. Rear disc brakes have also been provided in the petrol automatic variant. This variant has cruise control, arm rest on the rear seat, auto dimming in side rear view mirror (IRVM), wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play support and smartphone charging facilities.

Thar Roxx AX3 L (Features and Engine):
Price: Rs 16.99 lakh (diesel only)

Apart from the previous model MX3, this variant has been given Advanced Driving Assist System (ADAS) suite. Which makes the safety level of this SUV even better. It also includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display, DTS sound staging and automatic climate control. This variant is currently coming only with diesel engine option.

Thar Roxx MX5 (Features and Engine):
Price: Rs 16.99 lakh (diesel only, manual)

The MX5 variant of Thar Rocks is currently available in diesel manual variant. Apart from AX3 L, C-shape LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, single pan sunroof, leather seat and steering wheel cover, ambient lighting, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto headlights and wipers, front parking sensor, four wheel drive (4×4) system are being given as options in this variant. Electronic locking differential will also be available in it.

Thar Roxx AX5 L, AX7 (Features and Engine):
Price: Rs 18.99 lakh (diesel, manual only)

In both these variants, which come only with diesel engines, the AX5 L model is available with automatic transmission. Apart from the features given in the previous model, AX5 L has also been given electronic parking brake.

The AX7 variant comes with manual transmission. In the AX7 L variant, the company has provided features like panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, 6-way adjustable driving seat, ventilated front seat, cooled glove box, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, power folding outside rear view mirror (ORVM), 9 speakers from Harman Kardon. In this top variant, the company has also provided an all-wheel drive system which comes with a smart crawl system. This is a kind of off-road cruise control system that can be used between 2.5 km/h to 30 km/h.
