Mahindra Thar Rocks Price and Features: The country’s leading sport utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has finally officially launched its new Mahindra Thar Roxx for sale tonight after a long wait. The starting price of the entry level base petrol variant (MX1) of the five-door Thar Roxx has been fixed at just Rs 12.99 lakh. At the same time, the price of the diesel manual version (MX1) starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Currently, the company has announced the prices of only the entry level variants tonight. The prices of the rest of the variants will be revealed tomorrow i.e. on 15th August on the occasion of Independence Day. The company has also made the entry level variant of its new Thar Rocks feature loaded. This means that you will get many great features even in its base model.
How is the new Thar Roxx:
Compared to the 3-door Thar, the Thar Rocks gets an all-new design front grille that comes with 6 double-stacked slots. While the Thar 3-door gets 7 slots. The headlamps retain the round shape design, but they now get an LED projector setup with C-shaped daytime running lamps. Higher variants are expected to get LED fog lamps. The front bumper incorporates some unique design elements, along with integrated fog lamp housings and brushed aluminium bits in the centre.
The mid-variant of the Rocks gets 18-inch alloy wheels. While the higher variants are expected to get chunky wheel arches and stylish 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The front door looks similar to the standard Thar, the rear door has a unique vertically positioned handle. The rear door quarter glass has a triangular shape, which looks inspired by the Thar EV concept. The Thar Rocks will have a dual-tone paint shade for most variants – with a contrast black roof – which will give it a removable hardtop look.
Power and performance:
In the base variant of Thar Roxx, the company has given a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine which generates 162hp power and 330Nm torque. The petrol engine is mated to a manual gearbox. In the diesel option, the company has given a 2.2 liter diesel engine, which generates 152hp power and 330Nm torque. It is also mated to a manual transmission gearbox.
A look at the cabin:
The Thar Rocks gets the same dashboard as the 3-door on the inside. But there are some premium elements like soft-touch material on the dashboard and door pads. The interior is decorated with a dual-tone theme with beige color and dark dashboard with some contrast bits. Dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation in the top trims make its cabin even better.

Currently, if we talk about the entry level variant i.e. MX1, then it has LED projector headlamps, LED taillamps, dual-tone metal top, 18 inch steel wheels, push start button, rear seat split facility in 60:40 ratio. Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers sitting on the rear seat, rear AC vents and C-type USB port have also been provided in it.
The cabin of Thar Rocks has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, driver seat height adjustment facility. Other features include three-point seat belts for all passengers, electronic stability control (ESC), 6 airbags.
