Maharashtra: Setback for Ajit Pawar before assembly elections? Big faces of the party may leave NCP and join Sharad Pawar camp

Before the Maharashtra assembly elections, the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction may face another setback. It is being said that Babajani Durrani, one of the big Muslim faces of the NCP, may soon join the Sharad Pawar faction. He (Babajani) met Sharad Pawar during his visit to Sambhajinagar on Friday evening.

During his meeting with Sharad Pawar, Babajani claimed that many big leaders of NCP are angry with Ajit Pawar. Babajani Durrani is currently the president of Ajit Pawar faction’s Parbhani district and a member of the Legislative Council and his term will end after a few days.

The protesters protested

At the same time, people of Maratha community protested against Sharad Pawar in Sambhajinagar, the protesters raised slogans at Rama Hotel where Pawar is staying. The protesters were demanding to meet Sharad Pawar. They want Pawar to clarify his position on Maratha reservation.

Maratha protesters warned of strong protests if they do not meet Sharad Pawar. After the ruckus at Hotel Rama International, people of the Maratha community submitted a memorandum to Sharad Pawar for Maratha reservation. Apart from this, MLC and senior leader of the NCP faction led by DCM Ajit Pawar, Durrani met Sharad Pawar this morning and he is likely to join the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) along with his loyalists.

Preparations for assembly elections begin

Let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in Maharashtra this year. The term of the assembly will end on 26 November this year. Elections will be held for 288 assembly seats here in October-November, for which the ruling Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi have started their respective preparations.

MVA performed brilliantly in the Lok Sabha elections

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar’s NCP contested together for 48 seats in Maharashtra. However, compared to 2019, this time NDA has suffered a lot in Maharashtra. The three parties together could win only 19 seats. In these, BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) won 9-9 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 1 seat. On the other hand, India Block won 28 seats. Congress won 13, Sharad Pawar’s NCP won 8 and Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) won 7 seats. An independent candidate has won one seat.
