Maharashtra: Nursing student sexually assaulted, nurses took to the streets, demanding death penalty

A shocking incident of sexual harassment of a nursing student has come to light in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The girl was found unconscious. She is currently undergoing treatment in a government hospital. Wounds have also been found on the girl’s body. There is anger among the nursing students after the incident. The nurses have protested against this and demanded that the accused be hanged.

According to the police, the nursing student was found unconscious in Champak Maidan in Ratnagiri. The police have admitted the girl to the district hospital for treatment. After this incident, the atmosphere in Ratnagiri has become tense. The angry crowd has created a ruckus in protest against the incident.

Protesters blocked traffic

Citizens have also staged a sit-in protest in front of the Government Medical College and District General Hospital (Civil Hospital) to protest the incident. The protesters shouted slogans and blocked the traffic going towards Jayastambh and Maruti Mandir from both sides.

Police seized CCTV footage

Let us tell you that Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nilesh Mainkar and City Police Inspector Mahesh Toraskar discussed with the angry crowd and said to give some time for investigation. A case has been registered on the basis of the girl’s statements. The police have found some CCTV footage, which will be used in the investigation. The police say that the accused will be caught soon.

Let us tell you that after a similar incident in Kolkata, there is an uproar in the whole country. There, a female resident doctor was not only raped, but she was also brutally killed. After this incident, there were protests all over the country. Resident doctors of the whole country stopped working for several days in protest against the incident. However, after the case was handed over to the CBI, the doctors started working again. Now the CBI is investigating this case. The accused has been arrested in the case.
