“Because of the threat that Donald Trump poses, I’m not just voting for Donald Trump, I’m voting for Kamala Harris,” Liz Chaney Told the students at Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy during an event last week.
In an interview with ABC news’ this week On Sunday, Liz Chaney further explained her decision to vote for Harris, saying she had never voted for a Democrat before.
“Donald Trump represents a fundamental challenge and threat to the republic. We see it every day. Someone who was willing to use violence to seize power, to stay in power,” she said.
The Wyoming Republican is calling fellow Republicans who aren’t planning to vote for Trump, but won’t be voting for Harris either. “Given how close this race is, in my view, again, it’s not enough,” she said.
“You have a lot of Republicans out there who say, ‘Well, we’re not going to vote for him, but we’re going to write somebody else’ — I think that’s not enough this time, it’s important to actually vote for Vice. President Harris,” she said.
Trump has repeatedly condemned Liz Cheney, saying in March that she “should go to jail.” Dick Cheney also blasted her and her father on social media after she endorsed Harris.
“Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost a congressional race by the largest margin in history!” The former president wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. He also said Liz Cheney should be “legally prosecuted”.
