LIVE: Protest vs. protest in Bengal, Mamata’s supporters on the streets, BJP’s women wing launches lock-down campaign

The uproar in Bengal over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical Hospital is not taking the name of stopping. The protest that started with the demand for justice for the victim has now become an arena for demonstrations for political parties. On one hand, Mamata Banerjee’s supporters will be on the streets, while on the other hand, BJP’s women wing will surround the Women’s Commission.

The women’s wing of the BJP will march to the Bengal Women’s Commission’s office over the alleged inaction of the Bengal Women’s Commission in the Kolkata case. Bengal BJP president Sukanto Majumdar says that the members of the Mahila Morcha are going to lock the Women’s Commission’s office from outside.

Kolkata Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that TMC supporters will protest on August 30. The party will protest in every block on August 31. TMC’s Mahila Morcha will also protest on September 1.

Mamata Banerjee demands that a strict law should be made against rape in the country. She had said that she will bring such a law in the assembly that will ensure justice in rape cases within 10 days and if the bill is not passed by the Raj Bhavan, then a protest will be held there too.
