Haryana: Khap Panchayats have started a campaign to ban live-in relationships and homosexual marriages. Binan Khap chief Raghubir Nain says that Khap is not against love marriages, but the consent of parents is very important. If parents and family do not participate in marriages, then that marriage is against the culture. Such marriages are recognized in law, but it is against society and culture. Apart from this, Khap Panchayats demand that marriages within the same gotra (ancestral lineage) should be banned. This will make it easier to protect the next generation from genetic diseases and complications. Citing science, he said that instead of ending diseases, marrying within the same gotra increases them multiple times. Therefore, a demand will be made to the government to end this system.

Live-in relationships are breaking families

Binan Khap chief, Raghubir Nain said that live-in relationships and homosexual marriages should also be banned. This is giving a wrong message to the society. Families are breaking up due to this system. So, we will meet PM Modi to raise these issues and will also contact opposition parties to put pressure on the current government. He said that if our demands and amendments are made in the Hindu Court Bill, then we will protest.

The right to law is hollowing out the society

On the other hand, khap leader Santosh Dahiya says that families are breaking up due to live-in relationships and the law is giving them the right to live in live-in relationships. It is not right to marry within the same gotra. Not only is it ruining the social fabric, but it also has genetic problems. Therefore, we will meet the government and demand a ban on marriage within the same gotra. About 300 khap panchayats are ready to join us to take this work forward. If the government agrees to our demands easily, then it is fine, otherwise we will take to the streets.
