LIVE: A group of doctors ended the strike, OPD services still stalled across the country, CBI team will recreate the crime scene today

The doctors’ protest in the case of rape and murder of a female resident doctor of Kolkata continues today. Doctors of the doctors’ organization Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) say that their protest will not end until the government implements the Central Protection Act for doctors.

Due to the agitation, many services including OPD will remain affected even today. However, Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), an organization of resident doctors, has withdrawn its strike. Meanwhile, the investigation of the case has now been handed over to the CBI. During the strike today, doctors of many hospitals including AIIMS and Indira Gandhi Hospital across the country will be on strike. This case has been handed over to the CBI. Today the CBI team will recreate the scene.

Resident doctors of AIIMS Delhi have issued a statement announcing to continue the strike. AIIMS doctors have said that the AIIMS community reiterates its demand for the implementation of the Central Protection Act on the Kolkata incident. Support for the doctors of RG Kar MC&H will continue. It has been decided unanimously that AIIMS resident doctors, including foreign nationals, fellows and graduates, will continue their strike, which includes suspension of academic activities, optional OPD, ward and OT services. However, emergency services, ICU, emergency procedures and emergency OT will continue.

In fact, on August 9, the body of a female doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. A 31-year-old post graduate resident doctor posted on duty at the government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered on the night of August 8. Officials recovered the half-naked body of the second-year student in the seminar hall of the Chest Medicine Department, which had several injury marks on it.

The post-mortem report of this case has also come out, which was handed over by the police to the victim’s family. This report talks about the nature of the murder and sexual penetration before it. It was told that the victim was killed by strangulation. She was raped before that. The accused strangled her twice. She died between 3 and 5 in the morning.

The accused is in police custody. It is being told that the accused Sanjay Roy was addicted to watching pornographic films while drinking alcohol. He came and went inside the hospital several times on the night of the incident. Many sensational things have come to light on the basis of interrogation of the accused, circumstantial evidence and CCTV footage. The timeline of this entire case has come to light through police interrogation and CCTV footage.
