Line of Control: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation on the Line of Control

military general, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and called upon the troops to remain resolute in facing all security challenges. This is his first visit to the Jammu region after taking over as the 30th Army Chief on June 30. His visit assumes significance in view of the Amarnath Yatra and anti-terror operations in various places, especially in the hill districts.

He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Suchindra Kumar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, and Lieutenant General Naveen Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, officials said.

General Dwivedi, after returning from Poonch, chaired a high-level meeting of army and police officials at the Army Headquarters in Nagrota. The meeting was attended by Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police RR Swain, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Vijay Kumar and ADGP of Jammu region Anand Jain.

‘Commanders briefed him on operational preparedness’

In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information said that Army Chief Dwivedi, along with commanders of Northern Army and White Knight Corps, visited forward locations of ’16th Corps’ to review the security situation along the Line of Control.

Additional Directorate General of Public Information said, “The commanders briefed him on operational preparedness. The Army Chief appreciated all the personnel for maintaining high standards of functioning and exhorted them to remain resolute in facing all existing and emerging security challenges.” In another post, ADGPI said, “General Upendra Dwivedi interacted with the parents of the brave soldiers of Poonch region who sacrificed their lives in the service of the country. The Army Chief also met the ex-servicemen and assured them of full support from the Indian Army.
