Lin Yu-ting, Imane Khalif Gender test: The case of Algerian transgender boxer Imane Khalifa in Paris Olympics (Paris Olympics 2024) was not over yet that now a case related to the gender of another player Lin Yu-ting has come to the fore. Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting has to play another match on Friday, she has failed the gender test. However, despite this, she will play her match.

Two-time world champion Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan will participate in her second Olympics after Imane khelif. She will face Sitora Turdybekova of Uzbekistan in the 57 kg category.

Both Khalifa and Lin failed the gender eligibility criteria at the World Championships last year. Khalifa, 25, has male XY chromosomes, while both boxers are identified as female in their passports. Lin, the top seed in the women’s 57kg featherweight category, has received a bye in the first round ahead of her clash with Terdybekova.

Debate erupted over Iman Khalifa’s contest
Keep in mind that Algerian Khalifa sparked a debate all over the world after her bout in the Olympics. Khalifa’s opponent, Italy’s Angela Carini, quit the bout after 46 seconds on Thursday (August 1) and said that she had never faced such strong punches in her life. Iman Khalifa is a transgender, she could not meet the gender eligibility criteria in the 2023 World Championship and was out. But this time there is a matter of gender-equality in the Paris Olympics, due to which she got entry.

Khalifa and Lin are two-time Olympians
Khalifa and Lin are two-time Olympians who competed at the Tokyo Games. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) repeatedly defended the boxers’ right to compete this week. Gender parity has come to Olympic boxing for the first time this year, with 124 men and 124 women taking part in Paris. “All participants competing in the women’s category are complying with the competition eligibility rules,” IOC spokesman Mark Adams said on Tuesday. “They have female written on their passports.”

The IOC has legitimized male violence against women as a form of entertainment.

The IOC is in charge of boxing in Paris after it stripped the International Boxing Association (IBA) of its Olympic status after years of administrative problems, a lack of financial transparency and several cases of corruption involving judges and referees.

IBA is controlled by chairman Umar Kremlev, who is Russian. He made Russian state-owned Gazprom its main sponsor and moved most of IBA’s operations to Russia. Last year, the IBA itself disqualified both Ting and Khalif.
