Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the new Governor of Assam with additional charge of Manipur. Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab in place of Banwarilal Purohit. Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced this. According to a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday night, Laxman Prasad Acharya has replaced Gulab Chand Kataria, who has also been appointed as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

It said that President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from the post of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. The statement said, ‘Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of Governor of Manipur.’

Governors of many states changed

Anusuiya Uikey has been serving as the Governor of Manipur since February last year. Senior BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur will be the new Governor of Sikkim. Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan, who was also holding additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra in place of incumbent Ramesh Bais.

Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the governor of Jharkhand

Former Union Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar will replace Radhakrishnan as the new Governor of Jharkhand. Former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will be the new Governor of Telangana. Former IAS officer K Kailashnathan, one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trusted aides, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde will be the new governor of Rajasthan

Senior BJP leader from Maharashtra Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed Governor of Rajasthan in place of Kalraj Mishra. The release said that former Lok Sabha member from Assam Ramen Deka has been appointed Governor of Chhattisgarh. Former Lok Sabha member from Mysore, Karnataka CH Vijayshankar will be the Governor of Meghalaya.
