Kota: A company’s fire safety officer committed suicide by hanging himself, a year ago his wife had also committed suicide

A fire safety officer of a company committed suicide by hanging himself in a village in Kota, Rajasthan on Tuesday night. He hanged himself from a fan in a room in his company’s township. The deceased officer has been identified as Safan Shah, a resident of Vadodara district of Gujarat. However, the police is investigating the matter.

Simaliya police station SHO Dalpat Singh said that the deceased was about 35 years old. About a year ago, his wife committed suicide in her parents’ house. Since then, he was said to be suffering from depression.

Safan Shah was posted as Senior Fire Safety Officer at Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited in Gadepan village under Simaliya police station for nearly 13 years.

Giving further information, SHO Dalpat Singh told PTI that Safan Shah used to live in the company’s township in the same village. Sometime on Tuesday night, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in his room in the company’s township. No suicide note has been recovered from him and the reason behind the suicide is not yet known.

However, Dalpat Singh said that prima facie it seems that Safan was in depression. He said that on receiving the information of the incident, the police reached the room and recovered Safan’s dead body.

The SHO said that after the post-mortem on Wednesday morning, the body was handed over to the family and the police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNS Act for investigation.
