Kolkata scandal: Former principal of RG Kar Sandip Ghosh arrested, CBI action after 15 days of interrogation

The CBI has arrested Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, after several days of interrogation. Sandeep Ghosh has been arrested in a corruption case. The CBI has taken this action after more than 15 days of interrogation.

Sandeep Ghosh was taken from the CGO Complex to the CBI office located at Nizam Palace in Kolkata. The CBI’s Anti Corruption Unit is investigating corruption allegations against Sandeep Ghosh. This unit is located in the office of Nizam Palace. The Anti Corruption Unit has arrested Ghosh for alleged involvement in financial irregularities in RG Kar Hospital.

The polygraph test has been done twice

In the CBI FIR, a case has been registered under Section 420 and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act in the matter of alleged financial irregularities. It has been more than 15 days since Sandeep Ghosh was questioned.

He is also being questioned in connection with the investigation of the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor on the morning of 9 August. Apart from this, a corruption case has also been registered against him. The CBI has also conducted polygraph test of Sandeep twice to know all the truth related to this case. Apart from him, 6 other people have also been tested.

Former Deputy Superintendent made allegations

Sandip Ghosh was questioned about the hospital’s infrastructure, the protocols involved in safekeeping of bodies and conducting post-mortems. The five-member team spoke to doctors and staff of the hospital, including the head of the forensic department and current deputy principal Dr Saptarshi Chatterjee. The investigation was initiated following allegations of corruption by the hospital’s former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali.
