Kolkata Rape Murder Case: Sanjay Roy had become a beast on the night of the incident, even the officers were shocked to know his deeds

Kolkata trainee doctor murder rape: Kolkata Police civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, who was arrested on charges of raping and murdering a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, was roaming around like a zombie in search of his prey before the crime. On the intervening night of 8 and 9 August, he raped the trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital and then killed her, but before and after the murder, he kept misbehaving and harassing other girls. After arresting Roy, when the CBI started scanning his activities of the last 24 hours, such information about him came to light that even the investigating officers were stunned.

During 8 and 9 August, Sanjay Roy went inside the hospital on RG four times on different pretexts. Out of these, he came out after roaming around inside the hospital three times. But the fourth and last time he came out of the hospital, by then he had raped and murdered the trainee doctor. But the matter goes beyond this. Investigation has revealed that Sanjay Roy had also gone to a red light area near the hospital on the night of the incident and while returning from there, he had molested a girl on the way. Even after the rape and murder incident, he called a woman and his behavior with her was like that of a pervert.

On August 8, while making four rounds to RG Kar Hospital, Sanjay Roy once went inside the hospital with another civic volunteer friend. Actually, a relative of that volunteer friend was admitted in the hospital and Roy was roaming around the hospital on the pretext of visiting that relative.

Investigation has revealed that after committing this crime, Sanjay called a woman, whom he addressed as ‘didi’, but the truth is that he spoke rudely to this woman as well. In a CCTV footage recovered from the hospital, Sanjay Roy is seen coming out of the hospital on the night of 8 August.

Investigation revealed that after leaving the hospital at night, Sanjay first went to the red light area of Sonagachi with one of his civic volunteer friends. There his friend went inside a prostitution den, but Sanjay stood outside. After this, both of them went to Chetla, another red light area in South Kolkata. But here also Sanjay’s friend went inside the den and he stood outside. And then while returning from here, he molested a girl and asked her for her nude pictures.

He went straight to a red light area in Chetla area, located a short distance from the hospital. That means he went to two red light areas one after the other in the 24 hours of the incident. First he went to Sonagachi with a friend. Then he went to the prostitution den in Chetla with the same friend. But at both the places his friend went inside and he stood outside. On the way back he molested a girl. At midnight he raped and murdered the doctor and again called a woman and misbehaved with her.

By looking at Sanjay Roy’s actions, it is clear that his obsession of getting close to girls and molesting them was so strong that he was targeting them one after the other in different ways. When the CBI took out Sanjay Roy’s crime horoscope after arresting him in the rape and murder case, it found out even more shocking things about Roy. It became clear that apart from this, Sanjay Roy has also been accused of molesting women and girls in the past. He has even misbehaved with many girls in his own locality. And he also used to collect weekly extortion in his area.

But this is the details of the activities of Sanjay Roy, the accused of rape and murder, who is suffering from porn addiction, during the last 24 hours. After the murder, there are still some unresolved questions about the crime scene, for which the CBI is looking for answers. The biggest question among these is whether the rape and murder of the trainee doctor was committed somewhere else and then the body was brought and thrown in the seminar room? The doctor’s family has raised similar questions after seeing the crime scene and now the CBI is also investigating this aspect.

During investigation, CBI has found out that on the morning of 9th August, one of the deceased trainee doctor’s colleagues reached the seminar hall of the hospital to wake her up, but he thought that the doctor might be sleeping and he went back. However, by then she had been murdered and her dead body was lying in the seminar room. CBI has also questioned that doctor. But the doctor has told in his reply that when he reached the seminar room to call the trainee doctor, he saw that the doctor was lying down on a mattress with one hand on her head, seeing which he thought that she might be sleeping.

But the question is that the way the trainee doctor’s body was lying in the seminar room, can anyone be deceived by looking at it? So in answer to this, the doctor has said that there was a bench near the body, from behind which he saw the doctor and he felt that she was sleeping. That is, it is clear that after the murder, the accused put the victim doctor’s hand on her head in such a way that it appeared that she was sleeping, that is, an attempt was also made to fabricate the scene of crime in their own way after the incident. And that is why this question becomes more important that whether the trainee doctor was murdered somewhere else and the body was brought and thrown in the seminar room.

After inspecting the scene of crime, there are some more questions which the CBI is trying to get to the bottom of. The doctor’s body was lying on the podium in the seminar hall. There was a mattress below and an electric wire was also lying below the mattress. Whereas there are other beds to sleep on in the hall itself. In such a situation, the question is why did the doctor choose that mattress kept on the podium to sleep at night? Doubts and questions are also being raised by looking at the place of the dead body, in which it is being said that perhaps the dead body was brought here and thrown after the incident.

Meanwhile, away from Kolkata, the West Bengal case was heard in the Supreme Court in Delhi by a bench of three judges headed by the Chief Justice. Chief Justice Chandrachud Singh reprimanded the West Bengal government and police on many matters including the delay in filing an FIR in such a serious case. He said that it was the responsibility of the hospital administration to immediately file an FIR after the incident. But the FIR was filed at 11:45 pm. What was the hospital administration doing? This is not just about one incident, but it has affected the health services of the entire country. However, Advocate Kapil Sibal on behalf of the West Bengal government said that immediately after the inquiry, the police had registered a UD case i.e. a case of unnatural death. On this, Justice Chandrachud said that the murder case was registered at night. Why did it take so long?

The Supreme Court also raised questions about the delay in handing over the body to the family. When Justice Chandrachud asked when the body was handed over to the family, advocate Sibal replied that it was around 8:30 pm. To this the court said that the FIR was registered three hours after the last rites, at 11:45 pm. The seriousness of the Supreme Court regarding this incident of rape and murder can be gauged from the fact that first of all the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance to hear the case, and on top of that the Supreme Court slammed the West Bengal government for the investigation of the case and the laxity in handling the entire case.

The Supreme Court asked-

– After all, how did the principal of RG Kar declare this case as suicide?
– Was information about the incident given late to the parents of the doctor who became the victim?
– Why were the parents made to wait for three hours to see their daughter’s dead body?
– Why was there a delay in filing an FIR for rape and murder?
– Why did the police show negligence in protecting the scene of crime?
– How did thousands of people reach the hospital on the night of 14th and 15th August?
– What was the principal doing after doing RG after the incident?
– How did he get another posting immediately after being removed from the hospital on RG basis?

The Supreme Court is going to hear the case next on Thursday. Till then, the court has asked the CBI to file a status report on the investigation done so far. Currently, the court has handed over the responsibility of security of the hospital to central agencies like CIS and has formed a ten-member National Task Force to ensure the safety of medical staff across the country. And has asked them to submit their report in three weeks.
