Kolkata Rape Murder Case: BJP and TMC’s protests continue, CBI reaches medical college for investigation

The CBI, which is investigating the lady doctor rape and murder case in Kolkata, once again reached RG Kar Medical College. Along with visiting the crime scene, the cases of corruption in the hospital were also investigated. The investigating agency has questioned many people. The former principal of the hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, is also being continuously questioned in this case, but the CBI has not yet reached any conclusion.

This is the reason why a large number of doctors and people are protesting in this case demanding justice. On the other hand, the ruling party TMC is also holding a big protest once again on Sunday. The women’s wing of TMC is on the streets. The slow investigation of CBI is being made an issue. Dharna is being held on this issue. BJP has also come out on the streets today as part of the week-long series of dharnas. BJP and TMC are on the streets for the third consecutive week.

Union Minister and BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar had earlier said that the protesters want Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to resign over the incident. The West Bengal government has called a special session of the assembly on Monday to introduce and pass a bill providing for death penalty to convicted rapists. However, the central government says that there are already strict laws in this matter.

A mega rally of people from various professions was also organised from College Square to Esplanade in central Kolkata on Sunday afternoon. A protester said that this is a non-political front. The outline of this movement has been made on social media. On Saturday, students from various schools of Kolkata city participated in various rallies. There is anger in the whole country due to this incident. People are demanding disclosure as soon as possible.

Let us tell you that a civic volunteer of the police reached the protest of junior doctors against the rape-murder of a trainee doctor on a bike. He was heavily drunk. He hit a junior doctor with his bike. This incident happened near Ravindra Bharati University in Kolkata at around 2 o’clock on Friday night. But the police let the accused go without taking any action, due to which the protesters became furious.

Angry doctors blocked BT Road for 5 hours demanding the arrest of the accused. Then the police swung into action and arrested the accused civic volunteer. One of the protesting students said that the accused was drunk when the incident took place on BT Road at Synthi Crossing near the university in the northern part of the city. It is alleged that a traffic sergeant helped the civic volunteer escape from the spot.

The CBI is investigating the lady doctor rape-murder case from several angles. According to sources, the investigating agency is trying to find out why the police was informed 40 minutes late after the doctor’s body was found. It is also being investigated whether there was an attempt by the hospital authorities to hide the crime between the time the doctor’s body was found and the police reaching the crime scene.

According to the police investigation, the body of the lady doctor was recovered at 9:30 am on August 9. But the first call to the police station was received 40 minutes later at 10:10 am. The distance between RG Kar Medical College and Tala Police Station is one km, which can be covered in just four minutes. Despite this, it took more than an hour for the police to reach the spot, which is being seen as a big lapse.

In this way, there was a delay of one hour between the discovery of the dead body and sealing the crime scene. This is the reason why a crowd gathered there, due to which the crime scene was tampered with. The CBI is investigating the CDR of the former principal to find out if there was any interference from his side or not. He was called for questioning for a record 14th time on Friday. Along with this, the CBI has also questioned the Tala police station in-charge about this.
