Kolkata incident: Candles in hand, paintings on the streets…thousands of people came out on the streets

After the brutality with the lady doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, people’s anger is not subsiding. It has been almost a month since this painful incident. But people’s anger is still there on the streets. Every day thousands of people are on the streets in Kolkata to protest against this incident, to demand punishment for the accused and strict law. Meanwhile, demonstrations of youth were also seen on Sunday night.

Paintings on the streets, candles in hand…

Thousands of students took to the streets of Kolkata on Sunday. Youths raised slogans with candles in their hands. During this time, paintings related to preventing rape were also made on the streets. A huge crowd gathered on the streets of Jadhavpur. The tricolour was also seen in some hands. People were seen demanding that the accused be punished as soon as possible.

People from every class participated

People from all walks of life participated in this protest. Alumni of various educational institutions, clay modellers, rickshaw pullers and junior doctors took to the streets of Kolkata in different ways and protested against the rape and murder of a lady doctor that happened a month ago.

Nearly 4,000 alumni from more than 40 schools in South Kolkata, a large number of them women, covered a distance of 2 km demanding justice for the victim. Students of different age groups walked from Ras Bihari Avenue from Gariahat to the intersection of Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Road, raising slogans of ‘We want justice’. The victim’s mother thanked the people.

Hearing in Supreme Court from today

The Supreme Court will hear the case of murder and rape of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Monday. According to the cause list uploaded on the Supreme Court website, a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear the case on September 9. Let us tell you that on the night of 8-9 August, news of brutality with a lady doctor at RG Kar Hospital had come to light. Since then people’s protests are continuing.
